After years of planning, designing, building and installing, the time has come: the very first cheddar cheese has been produced in the new dairy factory in Estonia. In 2021, E-Piim, Royal A-ware and Interfood Group joined forces to establish this ultra-modern dairy factory. Royal A-ware is responsible for the sale of cheese from this factory, while Interfood Group is responsible for the sale of whey powder and butter. This factory provides employment to about a hundred staff members.
Jaanus Murakas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of E-Piim, explains, 'We have come a long way and all employees at E-Piim are thrilled that we have now made the first cheese. The process leading up to this did not go entirely smoothly, but generally had no major problems. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our partners, Royal A-ware and Interfood B.V., as well as the entire E-Piim team for the fantastic collaboration during the preparation, construction and completion of this beautiful new factory.'
Randel Veerits, director of the dairy factory, says, 'I am delighted with the skilled employees we have found for our team so far. At present, we have been able to recruit half the number of required professionals, with the other half to follow in the last quarter of 2023 and the first quarter of the new year. There's still a lot of work to be done in the factory. We'll start increasing capacity step by step, initially starting with one shift and expanding to four shifts next year to allow us to operate 24 hours a day.'
